SOME REMEMBERED...

MALCOLM RAMSEYER was born to two telepath parents, Leo and Helena Ramseyer, in the year 2226. He was born and raised in the Psi Corps. Leo and Helena were averagely strong telepaths and married for love without the involvement of the breeding program. He was an only child. Being born a telepath, his early education was corps-regulated and he had learned to adapt and control his telepathy at a very young age. When he was a young teenager, he had come out as transgender with full support from his family and the Corps. His transition was completely covered by the Corps healthcare and was able to live fully as male before he turned 18. He was ranked a P-7.

When Malcolm turned 13 he was assigned a mentor, an unnamed P-12 girl who he became very close to as he grew up. When Malcolm graduated from the Academy, his mentor became a Psi-Cop and was never in contact with him again. Malcolm was able to start commercial telepathy work on Earth soon after. Malcolm had always preformed well and was requested often from clients for jobs of varying degrees of difficulty. He lived a quiet life, few friends, few romantic prospects, until around the year 2257 when he met and became friendly with Alfred Bester, who took interest in him due to his good work. Being viewed this way from someone of Bester's status was seen as honorable, and he quickly became attached. The two had an undefined, secret relationship for several years. They had never made anything official due to Bester having...several partners already, to which Malcolm was aware of and didn't care about- as this wasn't an unheard of concept in the Corps due to all the assigned marriages and breeding programs. Malcolm had promised loyalty to the Corps and Bester, to which Bester promised protection to Malcolm.

Malcolm's feelings on the Corps as he got older became a bit suspicious. He started to disagree with a lot of what he knew and resented them very quietly. Trapped in the system, there wasn't much he could do- but having a good relationship with Bester would prove useful as Malcolm would try and do what he could to reform from the inside. Malcolm was a simple commercial telepath and couldn't do much on an institutial level, but when Bester suggested a mentorship job for him, he took the job with stride, hoping he could at least help one other person from having a better life than he did in the Corps. He was assined to 13 year old Aria Miller, a telepath born to mundane parents. They had also become very close the years they knew each other, seeing Aria as somewhat of a younger sister. He helped Aria cope with her existence, being a source of comfort and knowlege, and also as someone who was honest with her from the start about what the Corps do, and Aria helped Malcolm find the simple pleasures in life- to which he discovered a talent in writing. Malcolm wrote fiction, essays, songs and poetry that helped quiet his mind.

Despite the Corps being coporately accepting and accomidating towards LGBT telepaths, Malcolm's medicial records were still accessible to the Corps, and despite living as male, he was assigned to be a part of the breeding program and was expected to concieve and carry a telepath child. Malcolm was incredibly distressed by this idea for many reasons; he resented and actively opposed being used like breeding stock and refused to be a part of it. Bester had told him that his protection can only go so far and even he may not have a say in what happens in regards to that. Malcolm wasn't opposed to the idea of being a father, however, and wanted it to happen on his own accord. He and Bester came to an agreement that they would have a child together, and this got the Corps off of his back- especially considering that Bester is a Psi Cop and P-12's were incredibly valuable in the program. Malcolm and Bester were bound together now, and Malcolm made Bester continue to keep his promise, since Malcolm is keeping his. Their son, Steven Ramseyer, was born in 2263. However, something behind the scenes brewed before Steven was born, which would determine his fate...

Malcolm grew to love Bester despite their relationship never going anywhere. It is unknown if Bester ever felt the same, but Malcolm would claim that he was good to him and he wished that this could have happened earlier or later in his life while they were not under constant threat of war. War came despite it all, and they became seperated during it. Malcolm was able to get his son and Aria out of the headquarters before the bombing happened. Malcom was killed in the attack, along with hundreds of other casulties, as Bester escaped and fled due to being a wanted man.

Malcolm had left behind journals for Steven accounting the truth of the Corps and the War. He may not have been around to see it, but his son and Aria were free following the fall of the Corps after the war. A better life was promised to his son, a life of freedom that he did not get to have.

ALL ALONE IN THE NIGHT

In the year 2260, after expressing to Bester that Malcolm felt trapped, lonely, incomplete and lost, with foolish dreams to see the world, Bester offered to make arrangements for Malcolm to look for work on Babylon 5. Despite Bester's resentment towards the station, he figured that someone like Malcolm would benefit from being there. Bester may have also had his own reasons for sending Malcolm away for a little while. Bester made Malcolm reaffirm his promise to him, and reminded him that he will be representing the Corps while he was there, so he was instructed to not do anything he wouldn't, and to stay within Corps rules and regulations- just as telepaths like Talia Winters and Lyta Alexander were instructed to upon boarding B5. They stayed in as much contact as they could while Malcolm was aboard B5, and even were able to meet up a few times when Bester found himself there. Bester made sure not to involve Malcolm in anything he was doing.

Upon arrival, Malcolm's connection to Bester caused immediate suspicion. Sheridan knew that Malcolm was just an average telepath and came to B5 in search of work, and confirmed this with the Psi Corps on Earth prior to his arrival. Malcolm consented to a scan by Lyta confirming this to everyone else. Garibaldi, due to his distrust of telepaths in general, kept a watchful eye on Malcolm for a little while until he wasn't seen as a direct threat. All Babcom channel calls to Bester were tracked and recorded (this did not stop Malcolm from being...explicit on call) and remained mundane and casual in nature. Bester was smarter than to let information pass that easily.

One of Malcolm's first jobs on B5 was a simple verification job between Centauri traders. This got him immediately interested in the Centauri, seeking out more jobs for them, learning some of their language, and befriending Centauri telepath twins Savelle and Ilushka Atraviani. Through them, Malcolm learned what it was like to be a Centauri telepath and grew respect for them. Both being telepaths coming from oppressive establishments and restrictive societies sparked a point of bonding between Malcolm and the twins- including Ilushka's non-telepath husband Aurellio Parvori. He had even become cordial with Vir Cotto and Londo Mollari, both impressed and intreagued that a human was so genuinely and innocently invested in Centauri culture. Malcolm had traveled to Centauri Prime a few times for more jobs now that he had become trusted amongst the Centauri, to which the Ambassador and his protege were casually appreciative of. Malcolm had already cemented a few good connections on Babylon 5, and Centauri Prime- something he had never thought he would ever be able to do.
